Who is Papa Louie?????
The man, the myth, the legend.
Prior to moving San Diego in 1993 with his son and wife. Papa Louie aka Luis Lopez Sr. started his culinary career in Palm Springs Ca. Starting as a dishwasher then prep cook, he quickly found himself climbing the corporate ladder.
By the age of 25 he was running the "oyster bar" at the Hungry Tiger in Rancho Mirage ca. "Louie" was later asked to take over the restaurant called the Beach House directly across the street.
In the early 90's Chef Luis was moved to Cardiff by the sea to open The Beach House Cardiff, now Executive Chef his fame skyrocketed like a mushroom cloud. Chef has been featured in magazines, television segments, frequently visited by celebrities and has even cooked for two U.S. Presidents.
In the Summer of 2010 Chef Luis opened his own establishment called "Lighthouse Oyster Bar and Grill" in the Oceanside Harbor. Serving up all his classic oyster bar favorites such as shrimp scampi and oyster Rockefeller. In 2015 he opened his fish market directly downstairs allowing guests to take all the ingredients and cook like chef at home.
In 2019 Chef Luis was blessed with his granddaughter Mia. She loves calling her grandpa "Papa".
Papa Louie's Sauce Co. was created in 2021, formed with love, compassion and commitment to continuing Chef's legacy through his love for his proprietary sauces and small batch seasonings.
